Questions
What's the vibe of the service? Our Aviv High Holy Day Services will have all the staples of a BJ service: traditional liturgy, beautiful music, infused with a modern and progressive spirit. In addition, we have some elements to spice up the service to make it the right energy for our 20/30 something sensibilities. We will use mahzor Lev Shalem, which is the prayer book of the Conservative Movement. We will be using microphones and playing musical instruments.
What if I don't know Hebrew? While the service is primarily in Hebrew, Rabbi Sammy and prayer team have crafted a service filled with multiple entry points to experience the spiritual high of these holy days. There are transliterations for all prayers, meaning the Hebrew words spelled out in English, and we include many melodies that we encourage our community to sing along with using the word "Nai!"
Can I bring Jewish adjacent friends and family? Of course! We welcome anyone into our services that wishes to go on this journey of seeking and connection with us!
What if I’m a BJ member? BJ members in their 20s and 30s can secure their spots for these offerings through the dedicated High Holy Day registration link that has been sent. If you can’t find your link, email 5785@bj.org. Members only pay discounted member prices for the meals, $36 for the dinner, and $12 for the Break Fast!
Can I become a BJ member? Yes! Membership at BJ is not required for participation, but it does come with great perks. Discover the benefits of becoming a member.
Can I afford membership? Finances are never a barrier to joining the BJ community, and no one will be turned away for financial reasons.
